Studio Eight — Copenhagen

Websites with a spine.

Trends pass. Structure holds. We design websites around what your organisation actually has to say — and build them to keep saying it for years.

Clients

Companies that keep coming back.

Museums, makers, and quiet market leaders. Most of our work is repeat work.

Selected work

Four projects, four arguments.

What we built, and the thinking that carried it. The full archive is available on request.

Method

Four steps. No mystery.

The same path for a museum or a shop. Only the questions change.

Listen

We start with what you already say — to clients, to staff, to yourselves. Most of the answer is in the building.

Frame

One page of intent. What the site must do, what it must never do. Everyone signs it.

Design

Type, grid, rhythm. We show real pages with real words — never mood boards.

Ship

We launch quietly and stay through the first month. Then it is yours.

The studio

Eight people, on purpose.

Small enough that the person you meet is the person who does the work.

Strategy

Asks why until the answer is useful.

What clients say when we are not in the room.

Hear what our customers have to say.

“Studio Eight understood that a museum site should behave like a good gallery: generous, quiet, and impossible to get lost in.”
Henrik Dalgaard
Director, Aster Museum
“They removed half of what we asked for. The half that remained doubled our enquiries.”
Claire Fontaine
Founder, Paper & Co

Writing from the long table.

Occasional essays on the craft. Published when there is something to say.

Most websites fail by addition. Notes on what we leave out — and why it is the hardest part of the job.

Grids are opinions

Grids are opinions

A grid is not neutral. It decides what your reader sees first, before a single word is set.

The studio

A room that works the way we do.

One floor in Copenhagen’s Nordvest. A long table, a print archive, and more daylight than screens. We work in one room because the work is a conversation — and conversations do not survive hand-offs.

Manifesto

What we believe.

We believe a website is an argument about what matters. Every page makes one — well or badly.

We believe in fewer pages, better written. In grids that hold under pressure. In leaving trends to studios with more staff and less conviction.

We believe the work should outlast us. If a site needs a redesign in two years, we did it wrong.

Start a project

Tell us what you are making.

We take on six new projects a year. If the fit is right, we will say so quickly — and if it is not, we will tell you who to call instead.
